Brass instructor, Sacramento native & Sacramento State University (CSUS) alum (M.M. Magna Cum Laude, 2019 & B.M. Cum Laude, 2015), Jared is highly passionate about teaching music, jazz, & brass instruments. He began playing trumpet & studying brass technique in the 5th grade. By the 8th grade, he was a paid professional musician performing in pit orchestras for different musical theater companies in the Sacramento and Davis areas and performing regularly in jazz festivals on the West Coast. Jared offers lessons in brass, voice, piano, music theory, composition, arranging, & jazz improvisation.

In high school, Jared had the opportunity to receive instruction from world-class arrangers, conductors, & composers, including Johan de Meij, Jan Van der Roost, Robert W. Smith, Jim Cullum, Bob Curnow, Jim Widner, & Gordon Goodwin. Other world-class artists Jared has had the opportunity to learn from & perform with include Gary Foster, Mel Martin, Christian McBride, Conrad Herwig, Dave Brubeck, Mark Elf, Carl Allen, Louie Bellson, Ndugu Chancler, Wycliffe Gordon, Frank Ticheli, Allen Vizzutti, Eric Marienthal, Wayne Bergeron, Dave Douglas, “Fast” Eddie Erickson, & other talented musicians & educators.
As a band leader, Jared has directed & performed with student ensembles & professional community ensembles since his sophomore year in high school.

Representing American River College (ARC) for the first time in collegiate history in Yvonne Au’s annual Jack Teagarden Jazz Festival hosted by CSUS, his ensemble earned recognition as the top college group & individual band members received best trombone, drums, bass/tuba & trumpet awards – Jared was also the recipient of the Kenton O. Smith Traditional Jazz Scholarship for Most Outstanding College Musician (2011, 2013, & 2019).

In addition to private instruction, Jared is also available for hire for public performances, events & venues of all kinds: birthdays, weddings, wakes, bars, restaurants, parks, hotels, vineyards, festival venues, & private backyard or “living room” concerts. Everything from small duos and trios to a full 17-piece big band, varying styles, Jared offers audiences music to dance to, music to reminisce to, listen, & enjoy, music to unwind to, music to “soothe the soul” & music to mend the human spirit!
